Vaughan
Investigations

November 2009

Vaughan Investigators offers well over a decade of investigative experience and have apprehended thousands of individuals committing retail crimes. Its team members also have extensive experience and expertise in employee dishonesty investigations, surveillance, loss prevention, fraud investigation, and covert CCTV. The company is bonded, insured, and licensed through the Alberta Solicitor General as a Private Investigation Agency.

Overview

Vaughan Investigations required a fresh and engaging online presence to display its diverse service offering, so it turned to JOI Media to build a website entirely from scratch that would set it apart from its competitors. The website needed to bring Vaughan’s brand to life, and to fully utilize the Internet in order to develop stronger relationships between the company, its clients and its staff.

The Challenge

When Vaughan first began discussions with JOI Media regarding the development of its corporate website, the company’s online presence was non-existent. Therefore, in order to ensure that the website had the right functionality and flexibility to meet the needs of its target audiences, extensive planning and research were critical. Because there was no existing web presence to reference, JOI Media had to completely understand Vaughan’s business model to develop the necessary tools that the users would find helpful and informative. Specifically, the site needed to allow for direct interaction between Vaughan employees and management, including a system to manage employee scheduling as well as the ability to transfer documents containing sensitive information.

The Solution

After determining the project scope, JOI Media built a sleek interface that was consistently applied throughout the website layout. We built the website from the ground up, utilizing the appropriate technologies and navigation systems that would work for all the stakeholders in the project. We paid particular attention to the marketing aspect of Vaughan’s service offerings on the homepage, and the integration of member logins for the employees and management. Due to the sensitive nature of some information to be exchanged via the website, we employed a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to allow the private transmittance of private documents using a cryptographic system.

We developed an administrative application tailored to each of Vaughan’s functionality requests including:

  • A customized communication system with unique login access for both employee and management. Those with administrative access (management) can add/delete new users to the system, download documents, and retrieve uploaded files. Employee access is limited to downloading Microsoft Excel “Time & Availability” spreadsheets that are to be completed by the employee and uploaded for the administrator.
  • SSL technology enabled encryption of sensitive information during online exchanges by establishing a private communication channel.

JOI Media also used its knowledge in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to aid in increasing the visibility of the Vaughan Investigation’s website, the services it has to offer, and generating a greater volume of interested traffic to its website. We also installed a traffic analytics solution that gives Vaughan rich insights into its website traffic and where typical navigation by visitors to the website stems from. Patterns of navigation in the website can also be monitored.

Results

JOI Media developed a high-value solution that supports Vaughan Investigations online business objectives, particularly interactively with its key audiences. By using our premier website design and application development capabilities, we created a professional product that simplifies Vaughan’s employee scheduling processes into a convenient format. Vaughan’s website will support the company’s needs for the next several years.
